Girl that scuba with turtles in Cancun

Discover one of the most unique scuba diving experiences in the Mexican Caribbean with two unforgettable dives combining art, nature, and marine life. Your adventure begins at the world-famous MUSA Underwater Museum, an extraordinary underwater gallery featuring more than 500 life-size sculptures submerged beneath the crystal-clear waters between Cancun and Isla Mujeres.

Created to promote marine conservation and new coral growth, MUSA has transformed into a thriving artificial reef full of life. Over the years, the sculptures have become covered with corals, sponges, and schools of tropical fish, creating a surreal underwater landscape unlike anywhere else in the world.

After exploring the museum, your second dive takes you to the beautiful reefs of Manchones or other shallow reefs around Isla Mujeres. These calm dives with generally mild currents are perfect for certified divers looking to enjoy colorful coral formations, excellent visibility, and abundant marine life in relaxed conditions.

The shallow depths of approximately 7 to 10 meters (23 to 33 feet) allow for long, comfortable dives with plenty of time to fully enjoy the underwater scenery. During the dives, it is common to encounter sea turtles, green moray eels, lobsters, crabs, nurse sharks, stingrays, octopuses, and huge schools of colorful Caribbean reef fish. Divers also frequently spot large barracudas cruising along the reef, eagle rays gliding through the blue, and massive loggerhead turtles resting or swimming around the coral formations.

With warm Caribbean waters year-round, visibility often exceeding 25 meters (80+ feet), and mild currents most of the time, MUSA and the reefs around Isla Mujeres offer some of the most relaxing, accessible, and visually spectacular dives in Cancun for certified divers of all experience levels.

More than just a dive trip, this experience is the perfect combination of underwater art, marine conservation, and the natural beauty of the Mexican Caribbean.

Explore some of the most exciting and vibrant reefs in the Mexican Caribbean with two dives designed specifically for certified divers. The reefs of Punta Cancun offer the perfect combination of coral formations, mild to moderate currents, and an incredible diversity of marine life.

Depending on ocean conditions and the experience level of the group, we carefully select dive sites such as Chitales, El Bajito, Santo Remedio, La Bandera, Herradura, Grampin, Chucho, Cuevas de Afuera, El Túnel, or Iglesia Aristos, among other iconic reefs in the area.

Depths can range from shallow reefs around 7 to 10 meters (23 to 33 feet) to more dynamic dives between 12 and 17 meters (40 to 55 feet), where divers may occasionally experience stronger currents and exciting drift dives. Some reefs allow divers to stay protected close to the coral walls, while others offer guided drift dives where our professional guides carefully control the route and group pace for a safe and enjoyable experience.

Cancun’s crystal-clear waters typically provide visibility exceeding 25 meters (80+ feet), creating ideal conditions to fully appreciate the massive coral formations and abundant reef life. During the dives, it is common to encounter sea turtles, eagle rays, green moray eels, nurse sharks, lobsters, crabs, barracudas, and large schools of tropical fish cruising through the blue Caribbean waters.

Thanks to the combination of shallow reefs, drift dives, and more advanced dive sites, Punta Cancun offers incredible underwater experiences for both newly certified divers and more experienced divers seeking adventure, marine life, and spectacular underwater scenery.

Experience one of Cancun’s most exciting scuba diving adventures by exploring the famous C-55 and C-58 shipwrecks, two incredible wrecks that have transformed into thriving artificial reefs full of marine life. These dives are designed for certified divers who are comfortable with deeper dives and are ideal for those seeking adventure, currents, and pelagic marine life in the Mexican Caribbean.

Originally known as the USS Ransom (AM-283) and the USS Harlequin (AM-365) during World War II, both vessels were later acquired by the Mexican Navy under the names ARM Juan de la Barrera C-55 and ARM General Anaya C-58. In the year 2000, they were intentionally sunk off the coast of Cancun as part of a marine conservation and artificial reef creation project.

Over the years, these massive metal structures have evolved into vibrant underwater ecosystems covered with corals, sponges, and huge schools of tropical fish. Today, the wrecks are considered some of the most iconic and exciting dive sites in Cancun.

The first dive is usually conducted on one of the shipwrecks, reaching depths close to 25 meters (82 feet). Depending on ocean conditions, currents can range from moderate to strong, creating exciting drift dives around the wreck structure.

During the dive, it is common to encounter huge schools of jackfish, barracudas, green moray eels, lobsters, and large schools of tropical fish surrounding the wreck. Between November and February, the waters around the wrecks frequently attract magnificent eagle rays, making this season a favorite among experienced divers.

After exploring the wreck, the second dive takes place on the reefs of Punta Cancun, offering the perfect combination of deep adventure and vibrant tropical reef diving.

With their combination of underwater history, currents, marine life, and coral-covered structures, Cancun’s shipwrecks offer one of the most memorable and thrilling scuba diving experiences in the Mexican Caribbean.
